From the pioneering voyages of Captain James Cook to the whaling, fishing and boat-building industries, Whitby has always had a strong connection to the sea. A full-size replica of Cook's sailing ship Endeavour is a permanent fixture in the harbour, and features the Orlop restaurant on board.
