Getting Here

A car is almost essential for travelling to the cottage and exploring the area around Masham and the Dales.  Fearby is a great base.  You have the beauty of the Yorkshire Dales on your doorstep and a mere 20-minute drive from the A1 Motorway.  York, Leeds and Durham are only about an hour’s drive away.

Travelling from the South on the A1, you need to exit at Junction 50 signposted A61 for Ripon and Thirsk, then follow signs to Masham, which will bring you west along the A6108.

If arriving from the North on the A1, you should exit at Junction 51 Leeming Bar – signed for Northallerton and Bedale.  Follow the Bedale signs then the Masham signs.

By Public Transport : The nearest main line railway stations are Thirsk, served by Northern and Grand Central, and Northallerton, with services operated by LNER.  Both stations are on the East Coast Main Line from London Kings Cross to Edinburgh.  On arrival at Northallerton, Bus Route No.73 stops at County Hall for Bedale.  It is then necessary to change to Bus Route No.144 to Masham, from where a taxi operated by Ladybird Private Hire can take you to Fearby.  Other Bus Routes from Masham include Route No.138 to Ripon and Route No.159 to Ripon, Leyburn or Richmond.

By Air : For flights from a variety of UK and International locations, see Teesside International Airport, Newcastle Airport and Leeds Bradford Airport.

By Sea : Ferry services from Amsterdam to Newcastle (Port of Tyne) are operated by DFDS and from Rotterdam and Zeebrugge to Hull by P&O Ferries.
